I believe that the jffs2 images you can build with Narcissus
work fine with sdg. You just have to select the 'advanced' option
then the jffs2 radio button when you build it. When I did this,
I found that my hx4700's 128mb of flash wasn't enough for all the
applications I wanted so I never installed that build. Instead I
flashed the kexecboot kernel with sdg, then booted the rootfs from
an sd card.

What version of the sdg bootloader are you using?
If I remember correctly, v1.2.1 has power management issues under angstrom.
