Hi group,

The home page of the AngularJS.org website has a prominent menu called
"Learn". In this menu is an item "Seed App Project Template" which takes
you to https://github.com/angular/angular-seed. This is no doubt one of
the most likely routes a person will take while looking for a best way to
get started using AngularJS. It was for me.

Once you get to the angular-seed home page, there is no indication of the
existence of alternatives to angular-seed, much less their relative quality
or the large number of them. Nor is there any notice anywhere that this
seed was designed during a 5 hour plane ride or that the AngularJS team
itself regards it as unrepresentative of best practices. So unless someone
keeps searching around, it is natural to believe that this is the only
starter, or at least the best one, because after all it was the only one
referenced from the official AngularJS website.

>From this comparison
<http://www.dancancro.com/comparison-of-angularjs-application-starters/>, I
think it's clear that this is far from true. Of the twenty such starters I
have looked at so far, angular-seed seems to provide the fewest benefits
(only 8%) of all. It might not seem like a big deal, but I think this is a
really dangerous situation. It makes it more likely people will learn less
than best ways of doing things, waste time solving problems that the more
developed starters have already solved, or worst of all, seeing the
limitations of angular-seed they are more likely to "generously" contribute
yet another incomplete starter of their own to the fray.

What do you think? Is there an advantage to making it seem like this is
the only or the best way to start an AngularJS project? How much would it
take to point the link to a page of the options? That would potentially
save a lot of time in false starts by people who just didn't know there
were alternatives to angular-seed.

Best regards,
Dan
