Hi Bago,

Angular's data binding works well within the realm of the angular app. If 
you fire off events/code outside, you need to tell angular that it needs to 
$digests the changes you made to the data. This is where you use 
$scope.$apply. However, often it is much simpler to just solve it by doing 
whatever you need to do inside your app. (as you figured out already!)
