Hi Michael, I would move the side-bar into the app-shell <https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2015/11/app-shell>. I know that is not an angular resource, but the principle stands on it own. In angular, it makes sense to approach the app-shell as a component. It can, for example, show a login, when the user is not authenticated, and hold the main router outlet, and things as navigation and side-bars.
