Well, that is correct behaviour, as you are not adding any kids at the 
moment you do an addChild

    addChild() {
        const child: ChildData = {
            id: Math.floor(Math.random() * 100),
            childField1: '',
            childField2: '',
            childHiddenField1: '',
            kid: [{
                    id:Math.floor(Math.random() * 100) ,
                    infantField: 'test1'
                }]
        };

If you amend you code like the above, you will see the form will be 
displayed.
