Well, it depends on what you want. If you want to force the user to make a 
single choice, actually a radio is the correct way to handle that.
If you want to use checkboxes.the user can select multiple results. That is 
not a problem, but the solution you need depends on how you want to handle 
that in your data. 
You can mimic radio-button behavior with checkboxes also, but you really 
should not be that. You will become responsible for handling all the a11y 
that comes with that. Doing so will add a load of work that's not needed if 
you stick to radio-buttons.
