Yes, the checkbox is checked, the plugin create a layer named 
animovminimumconv...,
but it isn't showed, maybe the layer is empty... See the picture attached
It seems slower than the home range analysis plugin

 The last setting in which you can choose where save the layer, I've tried to do
"Save to file..." and when I push Save, QGIS closes.
I use qgis 1.8 on ubuntu 12.04
