Dear Colleagues, AFRINIC is pleased to announce the FIRE Awards Winner 2018.
The project C.L.E (Cours en Ligne à l'Ecole) from Senegal has been awarded the prize in the category ‘’Internet for Social Inclusion and democratization of access and the use of ICT.’’ The project focuses on setting up a distance learning system. This device set up by the Association of Support to Science and ICT (AASTIC) is intended for teaching and learning activities in the context of online tutoring for middle-secondary.The FIRE Awards recipient will be receiving a $3000 cash prize and will have flight and accommodation costs covered for the IGF meeting hosted by the Government of France at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris from 12 to 14 November 2018. The FIRE Awards program 2018 received 14 applications from 9 countries in Africa. The program seeks project proposals that have a technological component through which they solve development issues and strengthen communities by bringing innovative solutions. Le projet C.L.E (Cours en ligne à l’école) a été récompensé dans la catégorie « Internet pour l’inclusion sociale ». Le projet se concentre sur la mise en place d’un système d’apprentissage à distance. Ce dispositif mis en place par l'Association de soutien à la science et aux TIC (AASTIC) est destiné aux activités d'enseignement et d'apprentissage dans le cadre du tutorat en ligne pour le secondaire de premier cycle. Le lauréat des FIRE Awards recevra un prix en espèces de 3 000 USD et les coûts de vol et d’hébergement seront pris en charge pour la réunion de l’IGF organisée par le Gouvernement français au siège de l’UNESCO à Paris du 12 au 14 novembre 2018. Le programme des FIRE Awards 2018 a reçu 14 candidatures de 9 pays d'Afrique. Le programme recherche des propositions de projets comportant une composante technologique permettant de résoudre les problèmes de développement et de renforcer les communautés en apportant des solutions innovantes.
