Dear colleagues, The 2019 Nominations Committee is pleased to announce that the Nomination process for two co-chairs of the AFRINIC Policy Development Working Group (PDWG) is now open.
In order to re-establish the sequence of two-year staggered terms given in Article 3.3 of the Consolidated Policy Manual, one seat will be filled for a two-year term, and one seat will be filled for a one-year term. The open seats are: · Seat 1, to serve a two-year term from mid-2019 to mid-2021, currently held by Dewole Ajao. · Seat 2, to serve a one-year term from mid-2019 to mid-2020, currently held by Sami Salih. We are pleased to invite nominations for candidates for the above seats to serve a term starting from the election-day for the period specified above. Responsibilities PDWG co-chairs are volunteers selected by the community as provided for in the current Policy Development Process (PDP). Their responsibilities are as follows: Chairing Public Policy Meeting sessions and evaluating consensus or lack thereof . Creating post-meeting policy reports (and meeting minutes). Sending notifications for Last Call and evaluating consensus or lack thereof. Writing reports to the board to recommend ratification of policy proposals that gained consensus. Evaluating emergencies that necessitate varying the normal policy development process. Moderating discussions on the mailing list and at face to face in accordance with the AFRINIC Code of Conduct. Representing the AFRINIC PDWG community at other RIR community public policy meetings in-person or remotely. A nominee shall: · Be familiar with the AFRINIC Policy Development Process; · Have participated in the AFRINIC policy development working group · Be able to demonstrate that his/her activities are in the best interest of the African Internet Community. · Be able to travel to the two annual AFRINIC public policy meetings. Criteria and qualifications for eligibility A nominee shall be nominated by one (1) member of the Policy Development Working Group and seconded by one (1) member of the Policy Development Working Group. A member of the Policy Development Working Group can nominate no more than one candidate and can second any number of candidates. No person shall be appointed as a PDWG co-chair if he or she is a person who: i. is under 18 years of age; ii. is an undischarged bankrupt; iii. is not a natural person; or iv. has been adjudged to have been of unsound mind The seats are open to individuals residing within the AFRINIC service region. The Closure of the Candidate Nomination period is 10th May 2019 at 20:00 UTC. Note: It is expected that proposed candidates should be able to attend (in-person or remotely) the upcoming AFRINIC 30 Meeting, taking place in Kampala, Uganda, on 20th June 2019 - the day of the election, where they will have an opportunity to introduce themselves to the community and make a short presentation. Leurs responsabilités sont les suivantes : · Présider les séances de la réunion sur les politiques publiques et évaluer le consensus ou l’absence de consensus. · Créer des rapports de stratégie post-réunion (et de comptes rendus de réunion). · Envoyer des notifications pour le dernier appel et évaluation du consensus ou de l'absence de consensus. · Rédiger des rapports au conseil d'administration pour recommander la ratification des propositions de politique ayant fait l'objet d'un consensus. · Évaluer les situations d’urgence nécessitant de modifier le processus normal d’élaboration des politiques · Animer les discussions sur la liste de diffusion et en face à face conformément au code de conduite d'AFRINIC. · Représenter la communauté AFRINIC PDWG lors d'autres réunions de politique publique de la communauté RIR, en personne ou à distance. Un candidat doit : • être familier avec le processus d’élaboration des politiques d’AFRINIC ; • avoir participé au groupe de travail sur l'élaboration des politiques d'AFRINIC ; • être capable de démontrer que ses activités sont dans le meilleur intérêt de la communauté Internet africaine : • pouvoir se rendre aux deux réunions annuelles de politique publique AFRINIC. Critères et éligibilité Un candidat doit être nommé par un (1) membre du groupe de travail sur l'élaboration des politiques et secondé par un (1) membre du groupe de travail sur l'élaboration des politiques. Un membre du groupe de travail sur l'élaboration des politiques ne peut nommer plus d'un candidat et peut seconder un nombre illimité de candidats. Aucune personne ne peut être nommée coprésident du GTDP si elle est une personne qui: · est âgé de moins de 18 ans; · est un failli non libéré; · n'est pas une personne physique; ou · a été jugé pour n’avoir été sain d'esprit Les sièges sont ouverts aux personnes résidant dans la région desservie par AFRINIC.
