I suppose they are, in the same way the Detroit Lions are the same as the New York Giants. GM lost $38 billion in 2007. Ford lost less than $3 billion. Market capitalization for Ford is now double that of GM. Do the math. GM wants a handout. Ford wants a credit line just in case. Ford has a world car in production in Europe now. We can't get it here yet because (guess!) the United States government won't let it in the country. Ford has to retool to meet U.S specifications. I suppose the poor Europeans are in mortal danger because they don't know how to build cars. Do we really want that genius, Sen. Chris Dodd, telling Ford how to operate? As usual, government is the problem. Craig Gilkison.
