The 2010 Libertarian Party of Virginia State Convention will take place on
Saturday, March 6, at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church. The hotel is
located at 3111 Fairview Park Drive in Falls Church.
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to send in "Early Bird" reduced-rate registrations.
If you are a member of the LPVa, by now you should have received a mailing that
includes this information and a registration form. The materials are also

The doors to the Convention will open with registration on March 6 at 8:30 a.m.
The convention will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the business session will take
place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.
The business session will have the following items on the agenda:
* Consideration of proposed constitutional changes
* Election of officers (chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer)
* Endorsement of candidates
* Election of delegates to the 2010 national convention
* Consideration of resolutions
The luncheon will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. The luncheon will
feature a buffet and an address by Michael Tanner, a senior fellow at the Cato
Institute. He is an expert on health care policy and author of several books,
including "Health Competition: Whats Holding Back Health Care and How to Free
It", and "Leviathan on the Right: How Big-Government Conservatives Brought Down
the Republican Revolution".
The afternoon session will take place from 2:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. It will
feature an address by Paul Jacob and a panel discussion on running for office
in Virginia.
Mr. Jacob is the president of Citizens in Charge. His speech is entitled "The
Right to Shut Up and Pay Your Taxes: Fighting Back in a Closed Political
System."
The panel discussion will feature Matt Cholko (Vice Chairman of the Libertarian
Party of Northern Virginia and House of Delegates candidate in 2009) and Bill
Redpath (Libertarian Party chairman and U.S. Senate candidate in 2008). LPVa
chairman Jeff Bowles will moderate the discussion.
A meeting of the State Central Committee is scheduled to take place from 4:15
p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The meeting is open to all members of the LPVa.
Registration packages for the convention are available at the following prices:
Full Package (all events), "Early Bird" rate (on or before Feb. 22): $75.00
Basic Package (all events except luncheon), "Early Bird" rate (on or before
Feb. 22): $35.00
Full Package (all events), regular rate (Feb. 23 and after): $90.00
Basic Package (all events except luncheon), regular rate (Feb. 23 and after):
$50.00
Luncheon address only (no meal included): $15.00
LPVa members may attend the business session at no charge. Non-members may
attend the business session with the permission of the membership and a payment
of $10.00.
We have reserved a block of guest rooms at the hotel on March 5 and March 6.
The rate for a guest room (single or double occupancy) is $79.00 per night,
plus 9% tax. This rate is available until Friday, Feb. 19, after which rooms
will be available at the usual rate.

"Libertarian Party of Virginia convention" when using the reservation line; the
reservation code for online reservations is LPVLPVA.
Please note that a convention hospitality suite will be open at the hotel from
7:30 p.m. 10:00 p.m. on the evening of Friday, March 5. Members of the LPVa
are welcome to attend.
