1. NATIONAL NEWS: Votes of Virginians on Medical Nationalization Bill
================================================

But first, admit it: you haven't read it. So do your patriotic duty and do so:

http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3590enr.txt.pdf

But since you didn't click that link, let's just move on to the fact that four
Virginia congressmen voted to approve the "House Vote 165 - H.R.3590: On Motion
to Concur in Senate Amendments Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act".

Wow. Just the title is painful to read.

But I digress.

The four criminals on this vote were:

Gerald E. Connolly D VA-11
James P. Moran D VA-8
Tom Perriello D VA-5
Robert C. Scott D VA-3

Be sure to send them a thank-you note.

Normally I tend to eschew the obfuscation of northern leftists, and therefore
don't generally recommend reading the NY Pravda, but they have some pretty
complete data analysis of the vote:

http://politics.nytimes.com/congress/votes/111/house/2/165

Do you ever read Gary North? He's got an article up that does a great job of
explaining where ObamaCare is going to take us (in short, bankruptcy):

        http://www.lewrockwell.com/north/north828.html

RELATED ANNOUNCEMENT: We now appear to have candidates for congress in the 3rd,
8th, and 11th -- all districts with scoundrels who voted for health care
nationalization. So that should knock out three of the four bad guys. We also
have candidates in the 6th and 10th -- so we can knock out some bad guys on
other issues.

Check 'em out and ... Vote Libertarian.

"So they just passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman
says he didn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from
it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury
chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is
obese... and better yet it is to be financed by a country that's broke?"

... and paid for with more debt to China, I might add.

2. Another Federal Set-Up
================================================

"Today, the vast and wealthy DC Militia did what it loves doing most, swooping
in to arrest Americans talked into dangerous talking. Apparently the 101st
Airborne was not involved in the mopping-up operation, though I am not sure.
Who can doubt that the nine people arrested were talked into their exploits (of
speech, not action) by agents provocateurs? The media are all googly over
it—Christian militia members planning to use WMD (oh sure) to overthrow the
government. Too bad the nine did not pay attention to what Jesus said about the
use of the sword, but did pay attention to agents counseling violence. But
again, all the Michigan Nine did was talk: these guys had a website, and played
in the woods. Rachel Maddow of MS-GE delightedly explained tonight that those
arrested did not actually have to do anything to be found guilty. So these
working-class Americans are to be put in super-max government cages for the
rest of their lives, except when they are being raped or treated in th
e single-payer prison medical system, for “seditious conspiracy,” a concept
beloved of totalitarian regimes."

(Courtesy of Lew Rockwell
http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/54687.html )

My take: They hadn't done anything yet. Many of the government's "showy
arrests" of this nature for the past few years have resulted in a few lives
torn apart, but with a case that eventually is shown to be without much merit
and basically gets hacked up once in court. Oh, and a lot of them also are
fomented by government undercover agents.

http://reason.com/archives/1996/12/01/raiding-the-vipers-nest

... or perhaps the many people arrested for having a few dozen cellphones too
many...

Sigh. Tried and true political work going on here, I think. Obama's DOJ is
pushing the strings for big arrests because now that nationalization of health
care is a fait accompli, he needs some distraction and cover to mute the
outrage. We're back in political brownie-points time. Let's roll out some
terrorist plots and play DHS terror threat indicator bingo!

Some of the comments here are hilarious:

3. AntiWar.com: Libertarians Needed For ObamaWar Protest Now thru 6/19
================================================

"Cindy Sheehan is gathering 5000 to protest the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The protest will end when the troops are withdrawn. Since most of us do not
have a schedule which allows us to protest daily until such time, we would like
to ensure that at least fifty libertarians are present at any one time. We
will work in tag teams so as some activists are leaving, others are arriving.

Start Time: Friday, March 19, 2010 at 9:00am
End Time: Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 12:00pm
Location: U.S. Capitol/White House

Serious inquiries only. Can any libertarians spend some significant time at
Peace of the Action in June?

4. Word of the Day
================================================

Eleutherophobia - The fear of freedom.

"The voting public often fails to vote for less government because a majority
suffer from eleutherophobia."

================================================
5. EXPLORING LIBERTY: The LP's "Securing Liberty" Plank
================================================

This issue, we bring you the Libertarian Party's platform position # "3.0
Securing Liberty", which reads:

--------
The protection of individual rights is the only proper purpose of government.
Government is constitutionally limited so as to prevent the infringement of
individual rights by the government itself. The principle of non-initiation of
force should guide the relationships between governments.
--------

Libertarians often disagree about "where the line is" when it comes to whether
there are any legitimate functions of government. However, almost all
libertarians would say that *if* one accepts that there are any legitimate
functions, they must be related to protecting individual rights. We would also
generally agree that in the process of protecting those rights, the government
must itself not commit fraud or agression against anyone. In other words, if
someone initiates force or fraud against you, government action to halt the
agression or fraud is legitimate as long as the government doesn't raid the
wallets of a hundred other people in order to fund its "rights protection
regime".

6. The Census: It's Even Worse Than You Think!
================================================

One of the interesting unreported stories this year is that the Census Bureau
has been pulled into the White House, where the motto is "it's not how many
votes you get but who counts the vote". Expect some subtle but strange
manipulations of the data.

Ignored by the lamestream media is the fact that the felonious ACORN
organization is apparently contracted to supply some of the census taker help.
Do *you* want to give ACORN partisans access to personal details of your life?

Take a look at these great videos about the Census:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsDhkPym01k&feature=fvhl
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFvS5m4_OtA

If you're interested in doing a "Constitutional Compliance" with the Census
(e.g., answering only how many people live in your house), then you might want
to read the following:

        http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/52847.html

The fine for refusing to answer any question on the survey is $100. For
deliberately falsifying information, $500. There is no provision for
imprisonment; such language was struck out of the census laws in 1976. Any
census official found to have improperly disclosed or misused census
information may be fined up to $5000, imprisoned for up to 5 years, or both.
The code can be found here: http://uscode.house.gov/download/pls/13C7.txt

If you only answer the Constitutionally-authorized questions (e.g., "how many
people live here?"), and a Census person shows up at your door, some Census
resisters suggest the following (and no, I'm not a lawyer and this is not to be
construed as legal advice -- it is, however, suggested actions one can take in
peaceful resistance!):

- start the camera rolling

- ask that they identify themselves; force them to produce photo ID and record
their name and other information.

- If they attempt to GPS your property, tell them they are violating Amendment
IV of the U.S. Constitution: "The right of the people to be secure in their
persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and
seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable
cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place
to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

- Tell them you will cooperate with them according to the U.S. Constitution -
Article 1 Section 2: and that is the number of people living in your dwelling.

- Keep the camera rolling and make sure that they threaten you with any kind of
prosecution.

- Once they do, inform them that they (and the person who sent them to your
property) are are now in violation of FEDERAL LAW. You will now seek their
federal and civil prosecution under USC TITLE 42, CHAPTER 21, SUBCHAPTER I, §
1983, 1985/(3), & 1986; and USC TITLE 18, PART I, CHAPTER 13, § 241.
"Conspiracy against rights".

By the way, the feds are even tracking the *envelopes* they mail to you:

9. OOPS: Word Mis-use, and Misidentification
================================================

Geez. Last issue I published a retraction about the drilling business in
Brazil. This issue, I have to apologize for a couple of other goofs. Maybe I
should just make "this week's goofs" a regular feature?

Anyway...

In the last issue, in article # 2 entitled "VIRGINIA NEWS: State LP Convention
Results (March 6)", I had written: "A big 'thank you' to all who attended the
state Convention last Saturday. It certainly was enervating to see a great
group of motivated libertarians!"

However, Roy Scherer, as graciously as ever, noted: "Marc - Bad choice of words
there. 'Enervating' should have been 'exciting', 'energising', 'inspiring', or
any number of similar words. Enter into Google 'define: enervating' (without
quotes) to see what I mean."

So I looked up the definition. Whoa. I gotta lay off the coffee.

Then, in a Calendar item, I identified Thomas E. Woods Jr as an economist.
Except he isn't. Fred Childress notified me that while Woods can be called "an
economic Historian, he is not an economist -- although well versed, and
[particularly] a well versed student of Austrian economics (I believe he would
agree)."

So, sorry for any confusion. And sorry if I enervated anyone.

Now, back to our regularly-scheduled dose of today's government insanity.
