Bain, who lives in Salem, is a supporter of Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who ran for president as an independent in 2008. U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte has voted against Paul too often, and his budget views are not in line with the sentiments of people in the 6th District, Bain said. "A majority of people in the district wouldn't have voted to expand Medicare, wouldn't have voted for the Patriot Act," or the legislation to tax bonuses for bailed-out bankers, Bain said.
