Friends,

The Libertarian Party of Virginia needs you!

We have several volunteer positions open for motivated individuals who would
like to help improve the Party's operations and make us more effective during
elections.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, you might enjoy attending
our state committee meeting in Charlottesville this Saturday. See the Calendar
for full details:

http://lpva.com/Calendar/default.php

Otherwise, please call or write the LPVA Secretary (full contact information
below).

Here are a few positions that are needed as soon as possible:

****************************
Audit Committee
****************************

Does the LPVA spend your money carefully?

One way to find out, and let your fellow members know also, is to volunteer for
the LPVA Audit Committee. Examine our books and check our cash controls to
assure yourself and your colleagues that your state committee behaves ethically
and treats our members' hard-earned money with all due respect. Check after us
to help us all be sure that our money is used in ways that will promote the
Party and Libertarianism -- rather than detract from both. It is not required
to be an accountant to be on the Audit Committee -- just be organized and able
to see patterns when necessary.

****************************
Interim National Platform Committee Representative
****************************

Every two years, the LP adjusts its national platform to remove references to
obsolete issues, and add new ones -- or just to improve the style/readability
of our primary guiding document.

Would you like to be part of the team studying suggested changes to that
platform? Some travel may be required (for instance the Platform Committee
typically meets for a couple of days before the National Convention opens, so
it can finalize any proposals to present to the delegates); but mostly the job
revolves around a commitment to detail and paying attention to and
participating in the online discussion.

This position is a *representative* position -- the appointee will represent
the LPVA, so the applicant will need to consider what a majority of his
colleagues in the LPVA would think about the issues raised. In debate and
voting on the Platform Committee in support of that position without too much
bias from his own opinions.

Newsletter Editor
****************************

The LPVA would like to re-establish its mailed newsletter. We are currently
seeking one or more volunteers, including an editor. Please send us your
letter/email of interest and include a basic publishing resume and a sample or
two of your desktop-publishing work. For now, all we want is a two to four
page letter-folded type of very simple newsletter, poreferably to be mailed at
monthly intervals. The newsletter editor would only need to come up with the
content in camera-ready form; others handle the database it is mailed to,
paying the printer and postage, etc.

****************************
Membership Committee
****************************

When elections roll around, if we have few members, we can't adequately support
our candidates. Also, from the ranks of our membership come most of our
candidates -- so no members, no Libertarians competing at the ballot box to let
voters know there is an alterative to fat-government advocates.

Membership Committee volunteers initiate personal contact with our national and
state members, and encourage them to renew early. They accept new inquiries,
contact them vie phone, email, or in-person, and encourage them to join.
