You may be interested to know that our petition drive to get our Libertarian
candidate for President on the Virginia ballot will be ON very soon! Within
this coming week, we will be making available the ready-to-circulate
presidential petition. The forms will be available for download on the LPVA
website.
As you may recall, we have been "locked out" of the petitioning process due to
the courtroom wrangling over the gerrymandered Third Congressional District.
At last, it appears that court drama is coming to a resolution. That's what
the State Board of Elections is telling us, anyway.

ACTION ITEM: GET READY TO PETITION ON PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DAY, Tuesday, March
1! Please do the following TODAY:
1) Mark your calendar for Presidential Primary Day
2) Request the time off from your work if possible, and
3) Find the largest polling station near you.

If every LP member spends **just this one day** collecting signatures outside
of a polling station, we can probably knock out the entire signature
requirement!
Of course, we know not everyone can take a whole day, but please help us earn a
spot on the ballot by spending a few hours at a polling station.
To maximize the number of people you can ask to sign the petition, ask your
county or city voting registrar which are the LARGEST precincts population-wise.

Again, we will have the petition forms ready later this week -- so make your
preparations today!
NOTE 1 - Turning in completed petitions: You may turn in your completed Super
Tuesday petition forms at the state convention on March 5 (see
http://Convention.LPVA.com ).
NOTE 2 - Petition full time: Want to petition full-time? There are a few LPVA
members who work in very demanding fields, and so they are willing to help by
donating money to hire petitioners instead of circulating petitions themselves.
If you have a couple of weeks to fill up with productive work, maybe we can
help out. Send a message to [email protected], describe your availability,
and provide full contact information.
NOTE 3 - Make a pledge from YOUR local LP affiliate: I am pledging that my
local affiliate (the Rocktown Libertarians) will collect at least 100
signatures. We challenge all other local affiliates to match us per capita!
NOTE 4 - Silver 1-ounce coin or ingot for best volunteer petitioner on Super
Tuesday. I, Marc Montoni, will present a 1-ounce silver bullion coin or ingot
to the person who hands me the highest number of personally-collected
signatures (must be notarized!!) by Close of Business on Saturday at the State
Convention. The total number of signatures on the forms from the winner must
be AT LEAST 75.
NOTE 5 - Notarizing petitions: Normally the bank you do business with can
notarize a few items for your for free. However, if you need additional
assistance with notarizing your petitions, there a number of LPVA members who
are willing to meet you to get it done (more will be listed very soon):
