Dear mIRC User,

mIRC version 6.31 has been released Thursday November 1st, 2007. You are
receiving this e-mail because you have subscribed to the mIRC release
mailing list. The new version of mIRC is available from http://www.mirc.com/
and from all fast mirrors around the world. We have also provided a few
download addresses below.

* Fixes, improvements and new features.

mIRC is back with a new face! :-) mIRC now has a shiny new mIRC logo and new
interface icons, updated and designed by the good people at Turbomilk. To
match the new icons, we also decided to redesign the mIRC website to bring
it into the 21st century... we hope you like the new look! In addition to
the visual changes in mIRC and the website, this new version of mIRC also
addresses the various issues that were reported for the last release.

For scripters, we hope you like the changes to the script editor. The
interface has been improved, it is now cleaner and easier to read, we added
a Check Bracket and Sort Variables items to its Edit menu, line numbers to
the margin, and enter/home key indentation support. The editor also no
longer flickers when resized.

Various other changes include:
- A "Hide tips when locked" option to the lock dialog,
- An SSL option to automatically accept invalid certificates,
- Tips now shade each alternate message that is added to an existing tip to
make it easier to distinguish individual messages,
- When bars are locked the drag bars are now hidden from view,
- The behaviour of the "Hide minimized desktop windows" option is changed so
that query, message, and chat windows remain visible when they are first
  opened minimized on the desktop.

In total there have been over 50 changes to this version and although most
of them are only small fixes and tweaks, we hope that they result in a more
useful and stable mIRC for you.

We encourage you to explore the versions.txt file for all changes. Some
changes are obvious, some need getting used to - please take your time to
play with them and see how they work?

* How to upgrade?

mIRC is distributed in a self-extracting cabinet (mirc631.exe) that helps
you to install mIRC on your PC. Simply download the cabinet and run the
installer. Follow the instructions the installer program gives to you. When
upgrading all your old settings and scripts will stay as they were, if you
want that. Read the questions the installer program asks with care and
nothing can go wrong. You will be chatting with the new mIRC in no time. If
you get stuck or if you want to find out more about a certain feature, just
click on a Help button or browse the Help file and you should find lots of
hints to help you out.

evaluated for 30 days. Assuming you find that you enjoy using mIRC, and you
continue to use it, you have to register your copy. This licenses you to

Thanks for using mIRC, lots of fun on IRC,

* What is this mailing list and how can you unsubscribe?

This mIRC release mailing list is a low volume, low frequency, announcement
list. Typically you will get one message right after each mIRC release, only
a few times a year. Last time was on August 16th 2007. The list is not a
discussion list, there is only one person posting; me. We will not (never)
use or abuse this list for other messages. It is very easy to get removed
from this list. Just use the unsubscribe form found on the mailing lists
page on the mIRC website.
