No, it is not the same. If you do not change the preset format in the
Save dialog than the image does not get re-encoded. This gives the
optimal quality for jpegs.
If you change the image format then it is the same.
And if so, one could also use it to export the (multiple
picture's/object) selection to an PDF?
I suppose, multi-selection is not supported for this context menu item.
PDF might be.
Anyway in the future we like to support more than just images. For now
we implement a patch proposed by the OOo community.

May I ask why the menu for Color Resolution is removed from the
Context menu (and the UI completely)?
Who does really need this? I cannot imagine a use case any more.
I don't know. However did'nt go out either to ask people.
