I just wanted to enter a simple example to illustrate what I meant by "if". I'm going to rework my build scripts based upon your idea of a properties file (although I won't actually use a properties file, for reasons that are not that important). If I still think they are too cumbersome, I will add the entire build.xml as an attachment so as to make a better point.
