Yes, now that I understand you are talking about compile time dependencies only. I don't think splitting optional.jar is on the agenda for 1.5 (anymore). IMHO an additional download of an unbundled optional.jar that contains all classes would solve the problem. Build what you can build and create a binary only RPM from the complete optional.jar.
