also IMHO, it would be useful if an ant file could include another antfile 
elsewhere on the network via url.

Take a look at centipede  (http://krysalis.org/centipede).  

Krysalis Cenitpede  =  Ant + autodownloadable build plugins + needed 
jars autodownload.
