Hi,
Java Virtual Machine is the java environment in run.
If u run the java command in same jvm as of ant, ie.  fork='no'  then the properties of Ant JVM are used and also u can't say system.exit as the manual speaks.
while if u run java in different jvm, ie fork='yes' u can change properties of the jvm without affecting execution of Ant. Also it's properties are picked from system and no local settings of Ant will affect it.
