So it is a bug in the documentation, that should be

bottom="&lt;i&gt;Copyright &amp;#169; 2000 Dummy Corp. All Rights Reserved.&lt;/i&gt;">

Ant 1.4 will have a nested bottom element, which makes this easier to
write using a CDATA section and unescaped HTML.
