Aha! If you build Ant yourself, optional.jar will contain all tasks that Ant could build on your system. If junit.jar is not on your CLASSPATH when you build Ant, the junit task will not be part of optional.jar. > i need to get a good optional.jar Use the one from out download area 8-).
