If they had a java-CVS distro, then yes. having the tasks to support a product in with the product makes it easy for tasks and product to stay in sync. Example: axis has their wsdl2java task, batik has some rendering tasks (I think), and every app server should have their own deployment tasks that they get to maintain themselves.
