NATO

STENKOVAC,MACEDONIA: Locals show their anger at Stenkovac on the road from Skopje to the Macedonian-Kosovo border town of Blace Sunday 19th August 200 during a road block of the major NATO supply route. Displaying a banner reading New Albanian Terroristic Organization (NATO) they were protesting at the perceived pro-Albanian bias in the West's response to fighting in their country. The locals only let Macedonian military vehicles and those carrying essential supplies through.

SKOPJE,MACEDONIA: British 16th Air Assault Brigade soldiers walk out from a plane after their arrival as a part of the NATO "Essential Harvest" operation at Skopje airport on Sunday, 19 August 2001. Some 400 British soldiers arrived in Macedonia where they will set up a command and control centre from where they will also assess the status of the ceasefire between Macedonian forces and ethnic Albanian guerrillas. If they conclude the ceasefire is holding, 3,500 NATO troops will be deployed on a mission to collect arms.
