[Back to colonizing the Indian Subcontinent after a 238 year hiatus.] CNN.com First French troops in Kabul January 2, 2002 Posted: 6:43 AM EST (1143 GMT) France has pledged up to 5,000 troops to the war in Afghanistan KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- The first contingent of French troops have joined the international peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan. The group of 15 soldiers arrived on Wednesday at Bagram Air Base, the French Embassy in Kabul told CNN. The soldiers will join British peacekeepers, who have been in Afghanistan since mid-December.
