Ananova. 4 January 2002. Pakistan to turn over Taliban ambassador to US. Pakistan is to hand over to the US a former Taliban ambassador. Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef who was the Taliban's ambassador to Pakistan has been questioned by intelligence officials in Peshawar. He will be one of the highest ranking Taliban members yet to come under US control. Zaeef was the most familiar face of the Taliban regime as he spoke on behalf of Afghanistan's hard-line Islamic militia during the US bombing campaign.
