UNMIBH is providing support for an innovative new two-year Masters programme beginning in February 2002 that brings together Universities in Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Yugoslavia, the UN spokesman in Sarajevo announced Thursday (27 December). Along with experts from other international organizations, UNMIBH specialists will be among lecturers at the University of Sarajevo, which is offering an internationally recognized Masters degree in State Management and Humanitarian Affairs. The multi-cultural and multidisciplinary academic programme is the first such post war collaboration between academic institutions in BiH and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The course is open to graduates from any faculty. They must be under 35 years of age and study will be in the English language. Fifty students will be accepted in Belgrade and 50 in Sarajevo. Out of these, a total of 40 students will complete the course at La Sapienza University in Italy in 2003. Non-BiH citizens, such as staff members from the International Community, are also welcome to enroll. Assistance is available to BiH students from outside Sarajevo. The course is largely funded by the Government of Italy. Registration closes on 21 January 2002 and classes are expected to start in February.
