Belgrade spy row intensifies
The party of the Yugoslav president, Vojislav
Kostunica, has demanded the resignation of Serbia's
prime minister, Zoran Djindjic, following the arrest
last week of his deputy on suspicion of spying.
Dragan Marsicanin, deputy president of Mr Kostunica's
Democratic Party of Serbia, said that Mr Djindjic had
a moral and political obligation to resign.
Army police had detained the Serbian Deputy Prime
Minister, Momcilo Perisic, together with with an
American diplomat on suspicion of spying and revealing
military secrets.
Mr Perisic - who was army chief under former
president, Slobodan Milosevic - denies the charges.
He was released after two days of questioning.
