[All in self defence, of course.] From: lucie2cat Date: Mon Mar 25, 2002 9:41 am Subject: Video of cruel Israeli raid ADVERTISEMENT The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation released footage of an Israeli TV news broadcast that shows a recent Israeli raid into a West Bank refugee camp. When the Israeli soldiers bombed the door of the home of one camp family, the mother of the house who was about to open the door for the soldiers was critically injured by the blast at the door. The soldiers ignored the family's plea for the mother to be taken to the hospital and the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulances were not able to get into the camp because of the Israeli blockade of the camp. The mother died as her children watched. The only thing unusual about this story is that the Israeli reporter's film circumvented the Israeli censors. You can view the footage here http://cbc.ca/clips/ram-lo/macdonald_censored020318.ram http://www.cbc.ca/clips/mov/macdonald_censored020318.mov The video had appeared originally on Israeli television, and the following article regards the footage of this video which depicted the callous and cruel behavior of the IDF. It was published in Israel's paper Ha'aretz on March 19,2002 No more filming of interaction between IDF and Palestinians By Gideon Alon Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer has instructed the IDF not to allow television crews to accompany soldiers any more during missions among the civilian Palestinian population in the territories. This new order follows the harsh criticism of the callous behavior of soldiers featured in a broadcast last weekend on Channel Two. The defense minister informed the Knesset Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday about this new policy in response to a question from MK Yosef Lapid (Shinui). Lapid asked how it was possible for the IDF to allow TV crews to accompany soldiers on these missions and for these same crews to later broadcast reports that damage Israel's reputation. MK Ran Cohen (Meretz) said that the TV crews, which were performing their professional duties, should not be the targets of criticism, but rather the soldiers who carried out these actions among the civilian population. Particularly embarrassing from the IDF's perspective was an interview with a soldier lounging in a Palestinian family's living room in the al-Ayida refugee camp near Bethlehem. "I don't know what a Hebrew kid is doing so far from his homeland," said 20-year-old Ori Yaniv. --------------------------- ANTI-NATO INFORMATION LIST ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: archive@jab.org EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?a84x2u.a9617B Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
