What is their sentence likely to be?] AFP Thursday March 28, 11:34 PM US to seek death penalty for Moussaoui: Justice Department The US Justice Department said it would seek the death penalty for suspected terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui, charged with participation in the September 11 attacks. "We intent to seek the death penalty in the case of the US vs. Zacarias Moussaoui," DOJ spokesman Brian Sierra told AFP Thursday as the agency filed court documents indicating it would ask for capital punishment in the case. The court document said Moussaoui "intentionally and specifically engaged in an act of violence, knowing that the act created a grave risk of death." It also accused him of "substantial planning and premeditation" in the attacks. Moussaoui, a French national of Moroccan descent, was under arrest in Minnesota for visa violations when 19 hijackers slammed three airliners into New York's World Trade Center and the Pentagon outside Washington, with a fourth crashing in Pennsylvania, killing more than 3,000 people in the worst terror attack in history. Prosecutors allege that Moussaoui was supposed to be the "20th hijacker," and Attorney General John Ashcroft has said he "engaged in the same preparation for murder" as his alleged 19 accomplices of the al-Qaeda network.
