Chinese official praises North Korea-China
ties

Dai Bingguo, head of the international liaison department of the
Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, recently re-emphasized the
importance of goodwill ties between North Korea and China during his attendance
at a ceremony at the North Korean Embassy in Beijing.
The ceremony was
held to mark the 90th birthday of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung, who died in
1994.
Mr. Dai, after watching a movie based on Mr. Kim's trip to China
in 1991, pointed out that the visit to China demonstrated his "all-out political
support for Beijing," and added friendship between the two countries will
continue to prosper in the new century.
"The then-leader Kim laid a base
for goodwill ties between the old guard of the Chinese Communist Party,
including Mao Zedong," Mr. Dai said.
The ceremony was covered by the
North's state media Tuesday.
Also at the ceremony were Chinese military
leaders and officials from China's information technology sector.
