Your comments are well taken and
the alleged (note) cut off of German arms to Israel is
at least symbolically important.
But please recall that German Foreign Minister Joschka
Fischer, who was and is a major player in the brutal
military aggression against Yugoslavia, and who was
clamoring as early as 1992 for war against Belgrade,
was in Israel late last year where he was identified -
and where he identified himself - a "Israel's best
friend in Europe,"
Months earlier he officiated over the sale of
nuclear-powered submarines to Tel Aviv, ones reported
to be equipped for delivering nuclear warheads.
He's also the person most responsible for selling
Turkey, of the Ankara-Washington-Tel Aviv axis, 1,000
German Leopard assault tanks for use both against the
Turkish Kurds and in (near) future against Iraq.
A good argument exists that NATO Quad members the US,
Britain, Germany and France may be jockying for
comparative personal advantage while in no substantial
manner differing from the broader imperialist game
plan.
