AFP. 28 February 2003. Soros decries Bush administration's "imperialist
vision."

WASHINGTON -- US financier George Soros blasted President George W. Bush
and top aides for their "imperialist vision" and "aversion to
international cooperation," according to a media report Friday.

The administration has "a visceral aversion to international
cooperation," Soros said in a speech Thursday at Carnegie Mellon
University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"President Bush is pushing the wrong buttons when he says, 'Those who
are not with us, are against us.' This is an imperialist vision in which
the US leads and the rest of the world follows," Soros was quoted as
saying in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette paper.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Attorney General John Ashcroft and
other top officials of the administration have "an exaggerated view of
their own righteousness," Soros charged.

The administration should live by the same rules it seeks to impose on
the rest of the world, he said.

Soros, 72, a Hungarian-born financier and philanthropist, was named by
Forbes magazine as the world's 38th richest person, with an estimated
net worth of seven billion dollars.
