IF US TROOPS ARE MOVED FROM GERMANY TO POLAND MOSCOW
WILL HAVE QUESTIONS TO WARSAW

-"Poland is a NATO member-state and it will be
important to find out who, in its opinion, is
threatening to Poland."

POLOTSK /BELARUS/, MARCH 5, 2003. /FROM A RIA NOVOSTI
SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT/. - Russia's Security Council
head Vladimir Rushailo has stated that in case US
troops are moved from Germany to Poland, Moscow will
have questions to Warsaw. When answering journalists'
question he pointed out that "Poland was an
independent state and free to take any decisions."
However, "if the movement 'of US troops from Germany
to Poland' takes place, Russia will, naturally,
inquire about the reasons for it," Rushailo stated.

"Poland is a NATO member-state and it will be
important to find out who, in its opinion, is
threatening to Poland," he stressed.

When fulfilling a journalists' request to give
comments on the statement on a possibility of the US
military contingent being moved from Germany to
Poland, that had recently appeared in a number of
western mass media, Head of Poland's National Security
Bureau Marek Siwiec stated that "Poland is currently
having no negotiations and does not intend to deploy
any foreign troops in its territory."
