Czech News Agency December 17, 2009 Three generals leave Czech military after recent scandals Prague: Three generals are leaving the Czech military after the recent scandals of Czech soldiers in foreign missions, general staff spokeswoman Jana Ruzickova told CTK today, adding that all three are leaving at their own request at the end of the year. They include Jiri Halaska, who has been taken off duty due to a scandal of Czech members of the Afghan mission who wore Nazi symbols. The other two generals to leave are Josef Sedlak and Josef Proks, deputy chief-of-staff, Ruzickova said. Halaska is responsible for the command of the Czech military in international operations. He was taken off duty on November 10 when the scandal broke out around Czech members of the Afghan mission wearing Nazi symbols on their helmets. Proks headed the Czech Military Intelligence Service in 2002-2003. After the military intelligence and counter-intelligence merged to form a single unit, he became its head. He was relieved of the post in 2004 at his own request. Afterwards he worked as an advisor to the defence minister for several months.
