The problem arises when the machine is in a different
domain with different DNS servers...
Besides I'd like to understand why was this happening.

I guess I found another way to solve it:

- in the server configuration file, use the [ns_info address]
instead of [ns_info hostname] to set the hostname var.

Yes.  The guy who runs your DNS server can help you.  Tell him to set up
a name for the machine.
