This is a call for volunteers to help out with the AOLserver 4.0
documentation effort. The goal is to have as much documentation
reviewed for correctness, updated where appropriate, and available from
CVS and the aolserver.com website by 6/25.
I will be spending 2-4 hours a day over the next several weeks working
over the documentation. Anyone who is interested in helping is welcome
to participate.
Until the online chat medium preference issue is resolved, in the
interim, we will use AIM chat. IM me (DossyNJ) for an invite, or use
this link:
aim:goChat?roomName=AOLserver&exchange=5
There will be a recurring daily documentation review online at 4:00 PM
US/Eastern starting today, 5/25 through 6/25.
To put my money where my mouth is, I've set aside $50 of my own personal
funds to reward the two most significant contributors towards the
documentation effort. I haven't figured out what "most significant"
means in objective terms, but since this is MY money, you will all have
to accept my choices. The money will go to the recipients the week of
6/25 or the week after.
Today's chat will be to go over the review process, how to submit
updates, etc. The current documentation that we're working off of are
the man pages that are currently in CVS, and the 4.0 draft documentation
that the AOL documentation team had been working on, which can be
reviewed here:
http://www.aolserver.com/40drafts/
I'd like to focus on the Tcl API documentation first, then the public C
API, then lastly the internal C API.
In addition, I welcome any kind of cookbook examples of code, HOWTO
guides, or other useful information that we could collate together.
I will be handling the collection of those materials separately from
the various API documentation.
Comments, suggestions or flames are, as usual, always welcome, and I'm
usually reachable via AIM (DossyNJ) too in case you want instant
gratification.
