This was fixed by applying Dossy's patch to nsperm.c for SourceForge bug
899364 described at:

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/aolserver/aolserver/nsperm/nsperm.c?r1
=1.8&r2=1.8.2.1

The change, made Feb. 18, is incorporated in 4.0.8 and perhaps earlier.

The format of perms is the same in 3.4.2 and 4.0.1 and later, but there was
a big change between 2.3.3 and 3.4.2
