Of course, I also agree.

On several discussion lists of yahoogroups, it is necessary to send a
motivation email before being accepted by a moderator.

So, something like that should be done : asking newcomers to write a short
text saying who they are and what they find interesting in Apertium.

In addition, Apertium wiki is the only one I know showing new user account
creation. According to the number of new accounts (event if it will decrease a
lot with the approbation system), it is better not to show then on
RecentChanges.

Anyway, it will always be possible to see them on special pages :
http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Special:Log/newusers

For the present other administration operation (deleting pages and files and
blocking users can stay shown).

Another thing useful not to forget several spam pages : Presently, the new
page list is limited to one week. I think it could be better to extend this
length to one month. Especially for user pages which are less often watched
by administrators. A lot of them contains a presentation without link with
apertium or programming or linguistic studies and finish by a link on a website
which has nothing to do here.
Watching this afternoon, I found 4 new user pages since the 28th of May. I
deleted 2 of them. Sometimes, it is worse.

According to what say Kevin, of course, more than one person (every bureaucrat)
should be able to accept newcomers. And according to the speed several of you
answer on this mailing lists, it will not be difficult to validate their
candidature in few hours.
