[On behalf of Internet Society]
Internet Society Asia-Pacific Bureau is delighted to announce the launch of APAC’s first Asia Internet Symposium-Online (or AIS-O); a virtual space for our community to discuss emerging Internet topics of common interest and importance to the Asia-Pacific region. AIS-O aims to facilitate open discussions on emerging issues in and around the region using an online platform which allows wider participation, and targets the broader community including policy makers, governments, civil societies, the business community, industry and interested individuals. AIS-Online is typically 90 minutes in length and consists of a roundtable discussion with invited subject matter experts on a single topic, followed by open dialogue with participants. To kick off our first AIS-O, we have proposed the following topic for our discussion along with its details here. *AIS-O March 2016: Online Security and Building Trust in the Age of the Digital Economy * Date: 23 March Time: UTC0500-0630 (time converter calculator: http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/) Platform: Zoom Capacity: 200 (first come, first serve basis) Event hashtag: #AISO Follow us on: @ISOCapac *Background and objectives* ** This session will look at how we can build a better online security and trust agenda for the Asia-Pacific region. What are the goals of online security and trust in today’s dynamic online environment? We will explore the interplay of security and trust, and how these work within the Internet ecosystem while also assessing how technology and non-technology policies affect them. In addition, we will be asking, what are the roles of the different players in the context of building a secure and trusted Internet in an environment that is rapidly evolving? Please note that registration will close on 22 March, 2016 UTC 10:00 or when all slots are booked, whichever comes first. Please register early as space will be limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
