Just so happens that this will be the subject of my presentation at kfest.
:) But in a synopsis:

There's two ways of doing this--

1) find an ISP that is either local or has a local number to you that
offers dialup shell (Foxvalley.net is one--and has users all over the
country: lots of Apple II folk, a few C128, and even a few die-hard IBM
types who don't like GUI's.)

2) set one up yourself. Put linux on an IBM (486's are easy to find and
work well), and let it connect to the internet - DSL or cable work well
but you can even do this dialup. COnnect your Apple II to the linux box.
You can use a serial connection with any Apple II, or if you have a GS,
use the LANceGS card. Once you're connected to the linux box, log in, and
use it as a pass thru to the 'net.

Of the two, the 1st is the easiest, of course. I don't work for
Foxvalley.net, just a satisfied customer (8+ years now!). You can see if
there's a local number for them in your area at:

Later.................Howard
