I would suggest reading the comp.sys.apple2 faqs: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/by-newsgroup/comp/comp.sys.apple2.html
Then check out the comp.sys.apple2 news groups. :) > I'd like to make one of the IIgses more usable for > everyday work, such as word processing and printing, > and I'd love to do e-mail or the Internet on one of > these puppies if possible. You will need a parallel card or a serial printer for printing. Something which is PostScript and HP compatible is ideal. HP printers can handle plain text, which you would need for 8-bit programs, and I'm fairly certain that GS/OS programs can handle PostScript. There are two routes to getting online: one is using TCP/IP (this is how your Windows PC or Macintosh would do it), and the other is to use a "shell account." IMHO, TCP/IP programs are slow on the IIgs, but shell accounts are hard to come by these days (and you need a basic knowledge of Unix).
