I have two IIgs's in service, each with an ImageWriter-II printer, and mainly running
AWks 5.1.

Fortunately, I have several Img-II's, as I've already replaced two of them. But I'm
running out of replacements that work OK. :-(

Both problem Img-II's exhibit the same malfunction, and I wonder if other
Apple2List'ers have experienced (and solved) this problem:

The carriage that carries the printhead and ink cartridge "SLAMS"
hard against the left-stop, and the printer freezes. It happens,
not all the time, but often enough to ruin many print jobs.

I've just about decided printer-driver software is not the cause,
as I've replaced AppleWorks SEG.PR several times. It must be a
hardware malfunction - maybe a mechanical sensor out of
  adjustment somewhere.(?)

Any ideas? Thanks.
