Apple //c printer doesn't work

I got a call from a man 50 miles from me who says that his Apple //c 
printer up and quit.  Unexpectedly I guess.  He had an older type but 
obtained an Imagewriter (II?) and it still would not print.

I imagine we will talk about bad cables and trying another printer.  If 
the worst happens, is there a way to repair the printer port on a //c?
