As Ken already said, Apple ][ software is ussually distributed in Apple
][-compatible formats. By far, the most common are uncompressed disk
images (extensions .dsk, .do or .po, size of exactly 140 Kb or 800 Kb),
ShrinkIt disk images (extension .sdk) or ShrinkIt archives (extension
.shk). There are also other formats, like Binary II (.bsq).
If you have an Apple IIe card, you most likely will need a 32 Mb ProDOS
partition in your Mac's HD. That way, you just have to put the Apple
][-compressed file in that partition using Mac OS, and then boot the
Apple IIe and access the software using ShrinkIt (which handles almost
every Apple II format). If the software is in an DiskCopy image or other
Macintosh format (like StuffIt), you'll have to uncompress it and
possibly copy it to a floppy before using it in the Apple II, obviously,
but this is not very common, save for software downloaded from Apple.
