Well, I *do* have a monitor for it in the basement (DB-9 connection) but I'm afraid to turn it on because I've never tried it before and am scared as to what can happen O:-)

Heehee, I'll go get the monitor and try it.

It won't work. If it's an old monitor with a DB-9 connector, it's more than probable that it's an old PC monitor, compatible only with early PC graphics adapters (MDA, CGA, Hercules and EGA, mainly). Apple IIs computers need composite monitors, the exception being the custom video port of the //c, and the RGB video port of the //gs. It will only serve you if it has *also* a composite video input.

...or by looking at the little sticker that covers the power-on light: in the enhanced, it reads "65C02", but is empty in the unenhanced.

What if it *says* "Enhanced" on the sticker? :-P

It is the same. I was thinking about my //e, and European, PAL one. It has a couple differences with the American version: The sticker says "65C02" instead of "Enhanced", and the motherboard is arranged differently (the aux slot is located in front of slot #3, instead of to the left of slot #1).
