No luck with your suggestion.  ofxdump generates fields  that have the values.  It may be a problem with the import function of GnuCash.  Since the problem exists with an ofx import I will look there first although the ultimate goal is to resolve it for direct connect.  Is there any way to dump what is being downloaded from the financial institution.  I am using the ofxlog that Quicken provides for debugging.

I see the same results.  My accounts are laid out such that the top level brokerage account is set as type "Bank" and I have seperate "Stock" accounts for each security underneath that.  Somebody told me that if I put a placeholder (check that box in the settings) "Stock" account between the top level bank account and the individual securites accounts then the import would work properly.  I haven't gotten around to trying it yet.  Let me know if you do.

I recently tried to import investment information into GNUCash.  The
problem I see is the loss of the commodity price during import.  When I
get the Info in QIF format this loss doesn't occur.  When I import in
OFX the loss does occur and this is also true when I use direct
connect.  The same is not true when I import into Quicken.
Investigation into the OFX file shows that the information is
available.  It just isn't being used.  I am willing to work on this,
however I could use some help determining where to start.  I can provide
a test case.  To date I see that all three cases use different paths
into GNUcash.  However, both Direct connect and OFX import use libofx.
I do see some additional differences in Direct Connect and OFX import.
But they both lose the quantity and value of the commodity.

Thanks
Hubert
