Well, almost cool. It would be cool if it was open standard..
but GIF used to be proprietary too. Someone should reverse engineer SWF, 
the way GIF or let's say DOC or XLS are not proprietary any longer.

Unlike Java, Flash is often more compact, it runs faster, doesn't crash 
so often, and there is no altenative plugin for vector-based graphics.

But of course, Flash is often used even when it is not necessary...
