I have personally found that using a Web based & POP3 combination
serve me well. I set up an account at Yahoo mail and I can access
it from either school via the web or from home via pop3 (most of the
time). And if pop3 goes down, I can still use web access! I also
set up another email address that forwards to Yahoo mail (for
professional correspondence etc.).
